Duties
  • Serve as the Office Automation Assistant providing direct office support to the director and deputy director as well as support services to areas that fall under assigned Directorate.
  • Receive visitors and checks visitors into office, ascertains the reason for visit and provides any help and guidance needed.
  • Escort inmates to and from the directorate.
  • Receive, direct, andor respond to a wide variety of administrative written, telephonic or faxed inquiries.
  • Type, edit, format and print a variety of documents for the office staff, including correspondence, reports, technical notes, presentation and briefing material.
  • Edit material and make necessary corrections in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and format.
  • Prepare slide presentations and monthly reports.
  • Construct various records and files.
Requirements

Conditions of Employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must be able to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • This position requires a physical fitness examination and medical screening upon appointment and an annual re-evaluation. Employee must undergo screening for tuberculosis in conjunction with their annual medical evaluation.
  • All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Operates computer applications to assist producing reports or correspondence and/or revise documents. AND Reviews correspondence for accuracy in spelling, grammar and/or formatting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GL/GS-04).

OR

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Conditions of Employment: (Continued)
  • Per Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI), Number 1325.7, all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability; and have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year. Section 639 of Public Law requiring agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program. Pre-Service Training emphasizes the responsibilities of each individual to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • The employee will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP (Military Police) BDE (Brigade) Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and Army Corrections Command (ACC) Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct. Violation of either regulations may result in denial of security/access badge, be subject to disciplinary action under civilian personnel regulations or criminal prosecution under 18 United States Code (USC) 1791 or other applicable Federal or state laws.
  • In Accordance With (IAW) 28 Conduct Contract Receipt and Review (C.R.R.) Part 115, Prison Rape Elimination Act, the Military Correctional Complex (MCC) shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, who: has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997); has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
  • NOTE: Personnel who enter the Military Correctional Complex consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle, at any time their property or vehicle is within the fence line of the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB) or Joint Regional Correctional Facility (JRCF), or within the grounds or facilities outside the fence line but still controlled by the Military Correctional Complex. Such inspections are for the purpose of ensuring the safety, security, custody and control of the Military Correctional Complex.
  • NOTE: The maximum entry age for original entry into a primary position approved for coverage under special Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement provisions is 37 years old. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, may be reinstated provided they meet the reentry requirements set forth in DoDI Volume 336. The mandatory retirement age is established IAW 5 U.S.C.8425 (b).
  • NOTE: This position meets eligibility as a primary/rigorous law enforcement officer (LEO) position in accordance with 5 U.S.C C )5 U.S.C D) (iii), 5 Code of Federal Regulation (C.F.R.) 831 Subpart I, and 5 C.F.R. 842, Subpart H. The work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Regularly- assigned contacts with inmates expose the employee to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population. This frequent contact in the detention of inmates requires employment opportunities for this position be limited to young and physically vigorous individuals as evidenced by the maximum entry age, mandatory retirement age, and required physical fitness requirements.
