Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a talented hands on and hardworking senior planner to project manager to join our diverse and holistically focused transportation and transit planning group in Arlington, VA. This position is a great fit for a senior transportation professional ready to take on more responsibility and ownership of projects as well as an established project manager interested in a dynamic consulting environment with diverse projects. AECOM’s Washington, DC-area transportation practice comprises planners, engineers, architects, economists, travel demand forecasters, and support staff and is responsible for conducting a variety of planning and preliminary design/engineering studies for multimodal initiatives for local, state, and federal clients in the region. Example projects include alternatives assessments, feasibility studies, corridor studies, regional/statewide plans, environmental studies (NEPA documentation), sustainability, electrification, facility planning/design, and TOD/station-area plans.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in planning, engineering, environmental science, public policy or a related field;
  • 8+ years of professional-level experience in transportation and or transit planning;
  • Experience project and/or program management experience and strong working relationship with public agencies.
  • Experience developing engaging reports, and memoranda for the range of client, public stakeholder, and decision-maker audiences;
  • Experiencd and proficient with document delivery skills: report organization and technical editing, development of information graphics, an efficient delegation of assignments, and ability to work under multiple deadlines;
  • Experience working in North American stakeholder-based transit, transportation and community planning context; and
  • Experienced and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GIS skills, or similar applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in planning, engineering, environmental science, public policy, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in transportation planning;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project teams, supervise staff, and mentor professional colleagues in a diverse workplace.
  • Certification as American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or another relevant license; and
  • Experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Sharepoint, and other collaboration software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and highly self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate effective time management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills,
