The (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is with the (DFR). DFR’s mission supports that of the department by protecting Oregonians’ access to fair products and services through education, regulation, and consumer assistance. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, the availability and affordability of financial products, and the fair treatment of consumers. Functions include licensing, regulating, and monitoring the conduct of banks, credit unions, financial services providers, health care service contractors, insurance companies, and licensed or registered agents of such entities.

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible for on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. Regularly scheduled in-office hours are required at least two days a week. The incumbent may also be asked to work in-office for trainings, team meetings and other events on an as-needed basis.

Here’s what you will do:

As a Licensing Technician - Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, you will apply Oregon and other state’s laws and rules to determine if licensing applications from pharmaceutical sale representatives,  and secondarily, insurance related applications for individuals and non-financial institutions, should be approved or denied. Duties include:

  • Approve or make recommendations to deny licensure

  • Disseminate information regarding pharmaceutical representative licensing rules, regulations, and procedures

  • Assist the public with questions regarding both division and department services

Here’s what you need to qualify:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents

OR

  • An associate degree in any field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requested Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge and proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook

  • Expert proficiency with typing skills as position requires a high volume of accurate data entry

  • Excellent customer service skills including strong communication skills

  • Strong administrative support skills

  • Experience using and entering data into databases

  • Experience working with confidential information

  • Ability to organize work efficiently and to manage multiple tasks with interruptions as well as manage a heavy workload with competing deadlines

  • Excellent attendance

  • Ability to handle high volume of phone calls
