The Role: As the Sr. Technical Service Manager, reporting to the Sr. Sales Director, Industrial Solutions, you will contribute to top-line growth by solving technical product and process issues - pre and post sales -, identifying new value-creating opportunities and continuously expanding business and technology knowledge. You will be responsible for effectively and quickly driving technical service and application development activities within the group as well as providing product and technical training and support to the sales teams and customers. Additionally, you will assist R&D in new product benchmarking and key product development initiatives from ideation through the commercialization and launch process and manage oilfield technical support, application testing and new product development.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Technical Sales Support
  • Support the current business, ensuring specialized technical service, evaluating needs and solving technical problems
  • Support Market Development team by providing technical support in pre-sales phase
  • Assist customers in achieving maximum benefit from SI Group products by providing on-site and remote support during customer trials
  • Create and revise technical data sheets and technical literature (presentations and white papers). Take a leading role in communicating to customers new technical developments to support business objectives
  • Coordinate to resolve internal and external quality problems, to ensure superior quality and reliability levels with customer
  • Coordinate with application development lab and resources to conduct necessary testing as part of pre-sales and post-sales support
  • Serve as the technical expert and application expert, providing understanding of the industry through in-depth training, within the company and distributors
  • Prioritize work/projects based on potential impact to the business and in consultation with the commercial team
  • Represent SI Group at technical conferences
  • Support sales and marketing in identifying the competitive advantage of SI Group products, through performance benchmarking
  • Maintain a strong awareness of regulatory development within the market and SI Group products. Work closely with internal and external regulatory teams

Identification of New Value-creation Opportunities
  • Identify new value-creation opportunities (unmet customer needs, technology improvement) through customer visits and interactions (e.g. during post-sales support at customer plant)
  • Network externally with customers, academic institutions, government labs and industry related organizations on product improvement and future trends
  • Provide R&D with insight into market developments and customer needs to drive innovation

Creating Extraordinary Starts With:
  • BS Degree, Chemistry preferred, or appropriate experience/training to meet the job requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in oilfield chemicals. Downstream chemicals, process chemicals, fouling, desalting, fuel additives, and water treatment preferred
  • Experience in formulating, fuel additives, desalters and antifoulants
  • Field experience and application experience preferred within plastics/petrochemicals and in crude oil refining.
