Summary

The Delinquency Prevention Technician position is located in the Delinquency Prevention Unit of the Family Court, Court Social Services Division. The incumbent shall be assigned to the Delinquency Prevention Unit, housed within the Intake and Delinquency Prevention Branch.

The Delinquency Prevention Technician is an essential position that is required to work late hours, holidays, weekends and when there are weather related closures. 

Duties

This position is not under the Federal Law Enforcement Retirement System. The tour of duty will start at midnight. 

Brief Description of Duties:

Supports efforts to reduce delinquency and recidivism through collaboration with local schools, community groups/associations, law enforcement agencies and other collaborating organizations. Represents the Court Social Services Division (CSSD) at public safety and other community meetings addressing public safety by ensuring issues and concerns raised at such forums and meetings are communicated to the Office of the Director through the chain of command and also ensuring information regarding efforts and activities of the CSSD are expressed at such forums and meetings. Installs and removes electronic monitoring equipment primarily at the central office, and also in the various offices operated by the CSSD, the Youth Services Center (YSC), and also in the homes of court supervised juvenile offenders. Provides community outreach to improve Court relationships with the community stakeholders. Provides electronic monitoring oversight across all CSSD satellite offices and in community settings. Provides troubleshooting support, monitors equipment malfunctions and makes technical adjustments to GPS electronic devices, as needed. Monitors compliance (manual and electronic) and reports all violations to the designated Probation Officer of record via electronic and mobile communication with all notifications documented in the CSSD case management system. Transport youth to their home when parent/guardian is unable to do so, to and from community-based respite facilities, and court ordered destinations consistent with the operating guidelines. Maintain inventory levels, recover equipment in the community and surrounding jurisdictions and order and return equipment as needed. Provides reports to the Director, Managers and stakeholder agencies with authorization regarding the analysis of movement for youth enrolled in electronic monitoring. Provides and assists in the delivery of program orientation for Probation Officers, youth, parents/guardians and external stakeholders as directed.
