Identify Job Description and Duties

•Day to day oversight and responsibility for on-going production as related to scheduling/planning, staffing and controlling.

•Interaction with production, sales and executive persons to continuously improve production performance.

•Identify problem areas quickly and apply remedies whether that be changes in staffing, mechanical repairs, scheduling problems or identifying structural issues with equipment/processes that may require capital expenditures.

•Maintain daily rapport with president and alert him to short term and long term issues related to personnel and facilities/equipment as they arise.

•Read and follow trade trends and changes and look for opportunities the implement advances that would impact performance metrics for Benchmark Imaging.

•Attend local and national trade shows for our industry as time and schedules allow.

•Learn the intricacies of all processes used in production and learn effective remedies for service and repair to avoid downtime.

•Train and facilitate training for production personnel to increase efficiency and develop employees to be self-sufficient and self-motivated.

•Look for ways to improve morale and cooperation amongst employees.

•Understand and monitor graphics servers as needed. Interact with Lead in Digital dept to maintain and support software/hardware updates and equipment updates as needed.

•Gain and/or maintain a thorough knowledge of ICC profiling tools and equipment, attend conferences (at trade shows) and seek special training (as needed) for yourself and others.

•Oversee creation of and maintenance of profiles and printing environments for all printing equipment. Engage specialists for support in this area as required based on internal resources.

•Maintain contracts (as needed) for equipment and RIP software. Onyx support includes upgrades and annual support may prove worthwhile for this alone.

•Push some decision making down to the level of line operators as is practical and possible.

•Keep an eye on the exterior of building(s) and alert of concerns.

•In emergencies contact local emergency services.

•Maintain a safe workplace and maintain compliance with local, state and federal safety rules and regulations. Keep records of waste disposal and contracts for same. Keep MSDS sheets current to materials that require such record keeping- primarily inks and cleaning solutions.

•Monitor ink waste tank and arrange pickup and disposal as required- usually about once a year.

•Initiate, when appropriate, discussions on line worker performance and aid in performance reviews as required.

•Lend a hand Be prepared to jump in and roll up the shirt sleeves as needed to hands-on support the production staff and aid them in problem solving.



Skill set needed for the Production Manager Position

•Experience in allied field to the printing industry but in a specific niche which is quite different than conventional offset and web printing.

•The Ideal candidate would more likely come from a signage businesses such as E2R or Fed Ex Graphics.

•Good technical knowledge of with a broad understanding and some depth in a variety of disciplines

•Bachelor's degree preferred

•Past success managing a diverse workplace

•Experience training and aiding employee's development

•Successful interaction with sales staff

•Empathy and understanding for office staff, management and production

•Past experience and hands-on experience with electro-mechanical equipment and repairs

•Past success dealing with customers

•Aware of and respectful of scheduling

•Seeks opportunities to achieve incremental improvements in all elements of the workplace
