RESPONSIBILITIES

Weatherford is hiring a Process & Controls Sustainability Specialist for our corporate office in Houston, TX.

As an integral member of the Corporate Sustainability team, this role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) organization's process and controls. The Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with a cross-section of stakeholders across multiple internal departments (i.e., Finance Professionals, Facility and Real Estate Leaders, Location Managers, HSE Professionals, Location Employees, peer Sustainability team members and business leaders) to build, review, deploy, test, and continually improve process and controls across our ESG programming to promote adherence to/alignment with regulatory ESG landscape, leading ESG frameworks, external assurance readiness, and ESG rating indices alike. The role will also actively participate in a variety of assignments and projects relating to/not limited to: ESG (environmental, social and governance) reporting, assessment and implementation of analytical and visualization tools, control testing, process reviews, and other management requested projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Leverages prior experience to support and educate the company as it establishes proper governance, processes and key controls supporting external reporting and commitments
  • Perform internal reviews and ESG control testing in any combination of the following activities: governance assessment, program maturity assessment / benchmarking, assurance over external commitments, internal control testing and data validation
  • Provides advice to different internal stakeholders on leading / emerging practices
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate to execute and coach on improvements to climate related metrics and opportunities, using globally and industry accepted methods, frameworks, or regulation (i.e., CSRD, SEC, GHG Protocol, IPIECA, ISO, SBTi, etc.)
  • Monitoring trends and benchmark best-in-class GHG calculation practices
  • Recommending enhancements to Weatherford's data collection, reporting methods, and ranking/monitoring improvement strategies for functions/geographies, working closely with internal stakeholders to build business cases and methods to track progress
  • Reporting on progress to the peer team members, the Sustainability Program Manager and Corporate Sustainability Director
  • Recommending ESG program improvements for key functions and businesses partners to advance progress and recognition
  • Supporting the development and/or tracking of project budgets, schedules, action and workplans, and resources to project completion
  • Support the company's annual Sustainability reporting process, working across the organization and with internal and external partners to collect applicable data, write and/or edit strategic narratives for applicable disclosures
  • Contributing to, or leading the development of implementation standards, guidelines programs and measurable KPIs for areas as applicable to address their scopes of work in order to meet the overall ESG strategy
  • Supporting the promotion and raising awareness at multiple levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues across the ESG space
  • Collaborating with HSE counterparts to align operational environmental requirements to achieve goals

QUALIFICATION

Experience & Education

REQUIRED
  • 3+ years or more of related professional experience specifically in a Process & Controls or Sustainability role,
  • BS or MS degree in Accountancy or Environmental Engineering / Sciences, or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • In depth knowledge and/or understanding of environmental related ESG reporting frameworks and or methodologies (GHG Protocol, GRI, SBTi, ISO, CSRD, SEC, etc.)
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and brief senior leadership
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills
  • Strong influencing, collaboration, oral and written communications skills
  • Experience leading and facilitating group process and collaboration, team player


PREFFERED
  • Experience with a Big 4 Consulting Firm
  • Extensive experience with external Assurance Audits as Auditor or Auditee
  • Sound knowledge or exposure to risk assessment, management and monitoring practices
  • Experience in developing financial process & controls
  • Familiar with Workiva software
  • Experience in reviewing or developing sustainability clauses in contracts (i.e., suppliers / building leases)
  • Experience in developing external Environmental, HSE or Sustainability reports
  • Experience in sustainability assurance projects or activities
