Office Specialist 2, Correctional Rehabilitation (Ontario)

The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a candidate who wants to begin their career as an office specialist at the Snake River Correctional Institution.

This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Duties

The Office Specialist 2 provides a wide variety of secretarial, technical, or minor administrative related tasks in support of the agency.  You will maintain program tracking spreadsheet via Excel, create and distribute program materials, record meeting minutes, filing, enter and track information in database as well as assist in training new staff. The Office Specialist 2 will maintain program attendance sheets by ensuring data accuracy as well as processing in a timely manner.  You will implement the AIC Performance Recognition and Award System.  You may also provide back-up support for other Office Specialist 2’s as needed.

The right person for the job has a keen eye for detail, a knack for reviewing and completing paperwork, and a drive to invest into their career and develop their skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

An associate degree in any field; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions

Working at a male correctional facility including regular contact with Adults in Custody (AIC). Office environment with extended use of computer terminals and physical paperwork.

Requirements for Employment

You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

Benefits

Monthly pay ranging from $3,817 - $5,020.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range. The State of Oregon provides a generous benefit package, which includes family health and dental insurance, optional short and long-term disability and term life insurance – all of which can be tailored to individual needs. Also provided are fully paid retirement program, modest life insurance policy, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
