The Asphalt Performance Engineer will work as a member of the Asphalt Performance Team. This team supports Colas subsidiary leadership in supervising asphalt plant operations and production. The team will make recommendations for performance improvement plans for the local teams across the United States. The Asphalt Performance Engineer will also be encouraged to perform field and office engineering, administrative, and technical duties related to asphalt performance throughout the business. This position will require traveling to field operations at the subsidiaries throughout the US.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assists in support of program implementation of Colas 6S, OCP, ORE, Darci, Energy Star, our decentralized operations
  • Develops and maintains computerized files relative to all areas of responsibility
  • Performs periodic site visits and audits of subsidiary level performance
  • Work with performance team and local teams in development and implementation of standard methodologies in asphalt production and operations that continuously improves quality, lowers production costs, and provides efficiencies to better serve our customers
  • Assists in short and long-term planning and decision-making with respect to all aspects of asphalt production
  • Reviews and provides input on Capex projects
  • Works efficiently within a matrix organization,
  • May assist in development and implementation of project scopes, schedules, and budgets, adjusting as vital based on project demands or changes
  • Performs risk assessments to identify potential project obstacles and devise mitigation strategies to ensure project success
  • May oversee the design and development of solutions, ensuring they align with industry standards and project specifications
  • Evaluates multiple solutions while considering technical and financial impacts
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required; equivalent work experience can be used in lieu of education
  • Valid Drivers' License and ability to maintain a clean driving record
Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in asphalt production or construction required
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, and cost estimating
  • ability to travel 50% to subsidiaries throughout the US
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and optimally
  • Ability to complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines and process projects quickly
