Job Title: Manager, Product Development - FHS

Position Overview:

The Manager of Product Development at FIREHOUSE SUBS plays a key role in facilitating the introduction of new menu items and associated intellectual properties by collaborating with various teams within the organization. This position involves working closely with suppliers to develop and implement product specifications while also addressing the needs of the test kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Finalize ingredient specifications and ensure supplier compliance during the commercialization process
  • Manage and provide support to the test kitchen, overseeing sample evaluation and coordination
  • Assist in consumer paneling and conducting sensory evaluations of products
  • Participate in product development endeavors to create new or enhance existing offerings
  • Conduct recipe testing to validate ingredient and product specifications with vendor partners
  • Effectively communicate technical information in written and verbal forms to update project statuses and provide leadership within the department
  • Achieve project success based on predetermined metrics encompassing cost, technical and commercial feasibility, and consumer approval
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities in addressing project challenges with the collaboration of cross-functional teams
  • Support the successful launch of new and innovative products in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, efficiently managing multiple projects at different stages of development
  • Utilize data analysis to inform product development strategies

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Technology, Meat Science, Bakery Science, Food Microbiology, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in R&D within a corporate setting, preferably with a background in leading projects and commercial food manufacturing
  • In-depth knowledge of food ingredients and production processes
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle diverse products effectively
  • Familiarity with USDA and FDA regulations pertaining to ingredient standards, nutrition labeling, and label claims
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Understanding of procedures, regulations, and policies related to product commercialization
  • Demonstrated leadership prowess, strategic planning abilities, problem-solving skills, and successful project execution across various disciplines and teams
  • Ability to influence others, communicate clearly in business English both verbally and in writing
  • Capacity to work autonomously and efficiently
  • Quick adaptability to a rapidly evolving, fast-paced work environment
