Performs basic clerical and mail support tasks under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee.

Assists managers and other employees in day-to-day operations.
Applies basic knowledge of office automation and limited experience to accomplish assigned tasks.

The incumbent has basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and other types of automated software, including database management software, electronic spreadsheets, electronic mail, etc.

The incumbent will use office equipment for date/time stamping, faxing, and scanning.

Receives, sorts, prepares, and tracks incoming/outgoing mail from internal routed mail, other Federal organizations, United States Postal Service (USPS), Federal Express, United Parcel Service (UPS), or other local delivery companies.

Records and tracks registered mail. Sorts mail or general deliveries by addressee, general subject and/or content and distributes to internal staff or organizations. Maintains tracking sheets and log books of incoming/outgoing mail.

Provides information to FAA employees or other staff about the Mail operation and participates in activities to educate other staff in FAA or AGC policy and procedures.

Some materials are sensitive in nature (personnel, security or legal matters) and require special handling. Follows specific guidelines for handling and routing. Where guidelines do not cover the current situation, seeks guidance from manager or more experienced employees.

Regularly coordinates with a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee to plan time, prioritize tasks, and use assigned resources.

Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information and/or discuss the statuses of tasks.

In some assignment areas, may have frequent contact with customers and other parties on routine matters.
Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all tasks, with little or no room for discretion. Works under detailed instructions provided by a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee.
Regularly refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee for guidance.
Work is reviewed regularly during assigned tasks and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality.
Performs other duties as assigned.
