Position Title & Overview

Mediavine's Data & Analytics team is responsible for developing effective platforms and tools to unearth opportunities for informed decision-making. As an experienced member of the team, you will use your expertise to steer the business in the right direction through data-driven decisions. This role involves collaborating closely with various teams and stakeholders to provide tools and insights that drive the business forward.

This position primarily focuses on our Revenue team, which includes Sales, Ad Operations, and Ad Tech professionals. The emphasis is on the ad tech industry, its players, and maximizing our competitive edge in the field.

Our current analytics toolkit includes DOMO and dbt on a Snowflake data warehouse, but we're open to exploring new tools and expect you to play a pivotal role in this.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work with ad operations, sales, and revenue teams to develop analytics tools for monitoring and measurement
  • Create self-service tools for internal users to dive deeper into data beyond initial requests
  • Inform the analytics roadmap and lead projects through all phases
  • Enhance teams' capacity to answer questions through mentorship, training, and improved tooling
  • Generate visualizations to track business performance and identify trends for further investigation
  • Communicate requirements to data engineers to ensure the platform aligns with business needs
  • Assist in anomaly investigation and root cause analysis for other teams
  • Define meaningful exception-based alerting for specific audiences along with investigation and resolution steps
  • Expand the Test and Learn process for data analysis and A/B testing
  • Standardize transformation logic with data and analytics engineers for user-friendly exploration
  • Adopt best practices and analysis standards for data analysis
  • Be adaptable in acquiring new skills and collaborating with stakeholders as business requirements evolve

Requirements

  • Location: Applicants must be based in the United States

You have:

  • 4+ years experience as a data analyst at scale
  • 4+ years hands-on experience with SQL
  • 2+ years professional analytics experience in Ad Tech
  • Experience with BI tools and working with cloud data warehouses
  • Expertise in web analysis and designing experiments
  • Strong communication skills and experience in distributed team environments
  • Preferred technology knowledge and willingness to travel occasionally

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with R or Python for data modeling
  • Experience with dbt and Snowflake
  • Sense of humor and the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Familiarity with event tracking systems
