Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic catering plans to increase revenue and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Catering to set catering goals and create performance metrics.
  • Oversee the coordination and logistics of all catering events, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Develop and manage catering menus, working with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure quality and presentation.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring competitive rates and quality service.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, handling special requests and resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to promote catering services and drive business growth.
  • Manage catering staff schedules, training, and performance, providing leadership and motivation.
  • Implement and uphold health and safety regulations in all catering areas and during events.
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies as necessary, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and manage the catering budget, providing regular financial reports to senior management.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continually improve service offerings.
  • Represent the catering department in meetings and events as required by the Director of Catering.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in hospitality, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in catering sales and or event planning
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale events and catering operations
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising and training staff
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage operations, including health and safety regulations
  • Experience in budget preparation and financial management within catering services
  • Proficiency in catering management software and MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Creativity and innovation in menu planning and event design
  • Capability to negotiate with vendors and manage contracts effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of current food trends and dietary restrictions

Work Environment and Context

  • Work schedule varies and may include occasionally working on holidays and weekends.
  • Required to sit for extended periods, lift up to 10 pounds, bend, reach, use hands and fingers to operate keyboard.
  • Moderate travel between hotel and clients locations required.
