The Role

Moderna is expanding our footprint to Seattle to further our mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines Our new technology hub in Seattle will focus on software product development for our Commercial, Data & Machine Learning, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Excellence (dev tools) products and platforms.

Modernas Cloud and Digital Infrastructure (CDI) is an organization at the core of transforming Modernas enterprise use of the Cloud and on-premises compute. Through Moderna Mindsets, and a passion to change the future of medicine, CDI focuses on removing viscosity and enabling secure and scalable foundations for Modernas broad range of internal customers.

We are looking to add a Sr. Software Development Engineer to our team to accelerate visibility into our asset universe and maintain real-time asset ownership, and create high fidelity signals regarding system health, policy adherence, and universal observability. The ideal candidate will be someone that has experience with large scale systems, building services from the ground up, ensuring quality is baked in, and experience with mentoring other engineers crossed different roles. Partnering with other EE teams as well as external product teams as necessary, this individual will have the ability to discover, evaluate, and drive solutions from start to finish.

Partnering with peer teams as well as external product teams as necessary, this individual will have the ability to discover, evaluate, and drive solutions from start to finish. This is a highly visible role with the ability to deliver broad impact to the company.

In this role, you will work on exciting, cutting-edge technology initiatives/products from the ground up to empower our technology roadmap across the organization, with the ultimate goal of transforming patients lives.

Heres What Youll Do: Contribute to engineering projects that cross multiple functional spaces in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment. Work closely with customers, partners, and leadership to understand business needs. Design and influence technical and business processes that impact beyond your immediate team. Create innovative and intuitive solutions to transform business needs, including full-stack applications. Co-own your teams products and services and drive efficiencies in application performance, resiliency, usability, and cost. Participate in an on-call rotation. Contribute to creating and managing solutions that drive automation and analytics. Provide mentorship to fellow engineers. Ability to own not just a technical solution but to also own the business solutions. Deliver code enhancements for software builds which may include refactoring or deprecating existing code. Communicate effectively to your team about timelines to deliver your work efficiently and reliability. Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technology or scientific field OR 5 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree A minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience Educational or job-related experience with full-stack web application development Educational or job-related experience documenting technical systems and user workflows Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications) Masters degree in computer science or other related technology discipline Experience communicating with application users to understand and collect their requirements and requests Experience working in life sciences, pharma/biotech, or high-tech industries with a preference for experience in one or more of eCommerce, data/machine learning platforms, or cloud infrastructure Experience in a regulated environment Experience working in a matrixed organization A desire to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company that is Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative Under Washington State law, Moderna is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for the jobs covered by this description. Base compensation for these positions in Washington State range from $129,600 to $207,500. Actual salary determinations will take into account factors such as work location, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills. Compensation decisions are made on the facts and circumstances of each case.
