Colorado Avalanche Amateur Hockey Development Department:

The Colorado Avalanche Amateur Hockey Development Department (AHD) partners with local organizations to help grow the game of hockey throughout the state of Colorado. Utilizing the Avalanche brand platform and resources, the mission of the AHD department is to create a love for hockey, welcome individuals of all skill levels and backgrounds, provide support that increases the growth of the sport and promotes player development.

Nature of Work:

The primary duty of the Program Manager position is to plan and lead the execution of assigned Amateur Hockey Development programs on an annual basis, ensuring they exceed participation and revenue goals.

Examples of work performed:

  • Lead assigned youth hockey growth and development programs, planning from start to finish all elements required to successfully conduct each initiative.
  • Track and organize all components of assigned programs including event promotion, participant registration and communication, budget maintenance, post-program reporting, and more.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders both within KSE and the local hockey community to secure and manage all necessary operational elements vital to the execution of each program or event.
  • Develop and present detailed reports and recaps at the conclusion of each program and suggest improvements or changes to ensure future program success.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with amateur hockey association directors, coaches and advocates to ensure all assigned programs are designed and executed to meet the hockey community's needs.
  • Implement strong operational and organizational standards to execute each event flawlessly.
  • Maximize community satisfaction, attendance, and participation within all assigned programs.
  • Actively and positively represent the Avalanche brand at all AHD events, including at Avalanche home games, grow the game initiatives, statewide programming, and more.
  • Avalanche game night responsibilities include the execution of "Mini Avs" elements and additional youth and adult hockey initiatives.
  • Lead and manage AHD program coordinators and part-time staff to provide mentorship and facilitate department growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum
    1. BS/BA degree in event management, communications, business, marketing, or related field.
    2. 3-4+ years' experience in field.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge of ice hockey fundamentals.
    4. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    1. USA Hockey Coaching Certified minimum Level I
    2. Experience with or knowledge of the current Colorado Amateur hockey community
    3. Previous management and/or leadership experience

Compensation

  • $24.04 per hour
