Overview

We are seeking a full-time Data Backup Administrator 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for backup technologies and data management, with a focus on ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of our data through effective backup and restore processes.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive backup strategies for all critical systems and data.
  • Schedule and perform regular backups, ensuring successful completion and verifying data integrity.
  • Maintain and monitor backup systems, identifying and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Manage storage capacities and ensure optimal utilization of backup media and resources.
  • Perform data recovery operations for both planned and emergency situations.
  • Test and validate backup and restore procedures to ensure data can be recovered as needed.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of restore procedures and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of backup and restore processes with overall disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor and manage backup software and hardware, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning correctly.
  • Conduct regular audits of backup processes and systems to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backup-related issues, coordinating with vendors for support when necessary.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access and potential threats.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and internal policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in data backup and recovery.
  • Generate regular reports on backup status, storage utilization, and any issues encountered.
  • Maintain accurate records of backup schedules, configurations, and restoration activities.
  • Provide training and support to other team members and end-users on backup and restore procedures.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or technology related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 2+ years of experience in data backup and restore at an enterprise level dealing with data in PetaBytes.
  • Proficiency with backup software and tools (e.g Veeam / PPDM/ Cohesity / Avamar / Commvault / NetBackup etc).
  • Hands-on experience for server backups with diff OS like Windows & Linux, Backup, Vmware, SQL, Oracle, NAS, Networking, Windows, NFS, SMB, Agent based Recovery
  • Strong understanding of storage technologies and data management principles. (e.g. erasure coding, dedupe, compression, immutability, data encryption etc)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
