Job Summary:

The Yard Person/Plant Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the quarry grounds and assisting in plant operations for optimal efficiency. This position is key to ensuring a safe and productive work environment in adherence to company policies and industry standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Protect Family and Friends: Adhere to all Company Safety Policies and Procedures, and ensure proper PPE is worn.
  • Mastery: Engage in hands-on construction tasks, such as handling materials, operating equipment, and managing sites.
  • Assist in preparing materials and tools for plant maintenance projects.
  • Supervise the handling and storage of raw materials.
  • Monitor plant operations as directed by the Manager throughout the day.
  • Respect and Engage: Maintain effective communication with colleagues using radios and hand signals.
  • Dedication: Properly maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ascend ladders and work at elevated heights while following safety protocols.
  • Conduct Daily Workplace Examinations, clean and upkeep work areas and equipment.
  • Process customer orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy and completeness.


Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Previous quarry experience is preferred.

3. Familiarity with Electrical and Stick/Mig Welding/Fabrication is a bonus but not mandatory.

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.

5. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

6. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

7. Possession of a valid driver's license.

8. Authorized to work in the U.S.

Travel:

This position may involve up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to various offices in New York and New England, based on business requirements.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Medium Work: Involves exerting force occasionally, and/or frequently lifting objects. The job includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending for short periods in all weather conditions. Communication with employees/visitors is a regular part of the role.
