The Chief Nurse, Sterile Processing directs the BVAHCS sterile processing program, modifying guidelines as practice protocols change and creating and implementing interventions to ensure high quality infection control practices are maintained.
Demonstrates expertise and comprehensive understanding of the decontamination/sterilization process as well as infection prevention control practices.Specific activities include but are not limited to:
Education program development, quality assurance program development, evaluating concepts and project development, developing and mentoring staff and medical providers in sterile processing principles and in the implementation of projects, data collection techniques, statistical analysis, and developing evidence-based clinical guidelines and protocols.
Collaborates with key administrative staff to ensure the practice is consistent with the external standards of Joint Commission, Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN), Occupation and Safety Health Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and internal VA standards overseen by the Office of Sterile Processing directives, Memorandums and clinical practice guidelines and performance measures for preventative health and chronic disease management.
This position has oversight of sterile processing throughout the healthcare system. The incumbent has responsibility and oversight of evidence-based practice (EBP) infection control relating to sterile processing standards. Functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with others.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards
Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
