The Department of Physiology and Biophysics is currently seeking a full-time Research Associate 1.

The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects, aiming to advance expertise through education, training, and research.

Core Job Functions:

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in the publication of significant results.
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensures good research practice adherence.
  • Keeps abreast of current publications.
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
  • Performs calculations, data collection, and statistical analysis.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
Department Specific Functions:
The Research Assistant will oversee maintaining and genotyping C. elegans mutant and transgenic strains, performing lifespan and behavioral assays, documenting gene expression and cell morphology, and building mutant and transgenic lines. Additionally, preparing solutions, media, and plates for experiments, and supporting lab members with their experiments.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Experience:
No prior experience required.
