This posting intends to fill one (1) regular full-time position and create an eligibility list which may be used to fill full-time and limited-term vacancies for the next 24 months.

The IT Program Manager, SAP, will be responsible for leading and executing complex technology projects for the SAP ERP platform by actively interfacing with business and IT teams. Accountable for the successful delivery of SAP program phases, releases, and components. This role is essential in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects while maintaining alignment with business goals and objectives. The position will collaborate with the PMO, Business and IT leadership team, stakeholders, business SMEs, functional leads, infrastructure team, and system integrators to ensure projects align with overarching program goals and benefits. This role requires relevant cross-functional and technical knowledge, program/project leadership skills, presentation and communication competencies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and delivery teams. Responsible for overall quality, engagement, and adherence to the schedule and budget for the project. Ensure delivery of SAP programs in alignment with SMUD's delivery methodologies.

Job Descriptions:

Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, milestones, timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, coordinate cross-functional and technical work, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and task allocation.
  • Maintain regular interaction and communication with project stakeholders across multiple business units, including IT teams, and vendors, providing updates on project progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Facilitate meetings to provide project status/reviews as required to keep stakeholders adequately informed.
  • Communicate any concerns with issues that may impact project schedule, budget or quality to the project sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Track the overall S4 HANA and other SAP initiative. Provide status updates to a variety of audiences, from the project team to executive sponsorship.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to scope, timeline, resources, and budget.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and delays.
  • Work closely with stakeholders (business and IT) to resolve conflicts in prioritization and staffing.
  • Track project issues and drive resolution.
  • Oversee change management processes, including training, documentation, and communication plans, to ensure a smooth transition for end-users. Ensure effective knowledge transfer from vendors to IT functional and technical teams. Maintain detailed project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and meeting minutes (such as attendees, items discussed, what changed, blockers, next steps, action items).
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews / retrospectives to evaluate project outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and capture lessons learned.
  • Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
  • Work closely with the SAP domain manager to setup and oversee the SAP COE.
  • Ensure other members of the department follow the standards, and procedures.
  • Oversee the functional aspects of S/4HANA project, including cross-functional requirements.,
  • Oversee the technical aspects of S/4HANA projects, including system architecture, integration, and data migration.
  • Ensure that technical solutions align with business requirements and SAP best practices.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Purpose

Serves as a business and technical liaison to SMUD business units; provides supervisory oversight to jointly manage the development and maintenance of effective and reliable business applications and technical solutions for the business units; communicates with business technology process teams and management to ensure strategic business objectives and priorities are successfully achieved.

Nature and Scope

Provides technical and functional expertise to business units to assist in managing technology, planning, design, requirements definition, procurement, development, implementation, and maintenance activities to attain Business Unit and Business Technology goals, objectives, and priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the development and implementation of technology solutions by directing and overseeing technical staff efforts; organizes and coordinates multiple business unit teams to assess, evaluate, plan, procure, design, develop, implement, and maintain technology solutions to support business unit goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and provides consulting services to ensure the development of a project plan that defines the scope, budget, schedule, and resources for proposed projects; serves as an internal consultant in partnership with the business unit to assess technology support requirements; coordinates efforts to maintain service levels and minimize risk to core business unit operations.
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of others; participates in employee hiring and selection processes; develops staff and maintains quality of work.
  • Provides expert knowledge in business technology solutions to meet business operation, product and service requirements for assigned business unit, including negotiations with internal/external customers/clients; develops budget, schedule, and resource commitments to meet project and business unit goals and objectives; develops strategies and specific evaluation criteria for measuring and obtaining the attainment of effective technology solutions at competitive costs.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with SMUD business units by partnering with managers/process owners, vendors and other assigned business unit representatives as a technology solution provider.
  • Promotes partnerships across SMUD business units; ensures coordination of goals and objectives to support overall achievement and completion of various projects; effectively responds to and provides support to business unit management on contracts and agreements, ensuring all contracts, user and regulatory agency agreements meet current and future business needs.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Required Experience Qualifications

  • Seven (7+) or more years of progressively responsible relevant work experience providing and integrating technology solutions.

Required Licenses/Certificates

  • Certificates in information technology and/or a products/technology-related field from educational institutions or certified programs such as project management.
