The International Transportation Analyst Trade/CIFIUS:


Serves as an expert on transportation, trade, and foreign direct investment, displaying expertise in the provisions of relevant bilateral and multilateral agreements and their application.

Recommends initiatives to promote policies and assistance through the economic analyses of domestic and international transportation and trade, foreign direct investment, and doing-business issues for the U.S.

transportation industry.

Prepares for trade negotiations held with foreign delegations to establish or modify bilateral and multilateral trade agreements and serves as a U.S.

delegation member in such negotiations.

Performs in-depth economic analysis and empirical research to maintain current working knowledge of the full range of issues affecting international transportation and trade and foreign direct investment in U.S.

transportation, as assigned. Independently prepares analyses and briefing materials for DOT officials and DOT members of U.S. negotiating teams.
Independently solicits, compiles and analyzes U.S. transportation industry input for negotiations, and develops recommendations for DOT input into the U.S. negotiating position. Reviews and analyzes cables and correspondence concerning transportation matters between the Department of State and U.S. Embassies. Based on subject-matter knowledge, identifies developments requiring immediate high-level attention and recommends responsive action.

Prepares briefing materials for the Assistant Secretary, Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Secretary of Transportation for their use in meetings, conferences, and Congressional appearances.

OST is looking for a motivated and self-reliant professional with experience conducting international trade and foreign direct investment analysis and expertise in formulating trade policy or negotiating international bilateral transportation and trade agreements between the United States and foreign Governments.

This position is in the DOT building, which sits directly across the street from the Metro and a few blocks away from the National's Baseball stadium.
