Position Description:

The Program Manager II role will support the Kentucky Center for Reading Research (KCRR) to conduct research regarding effective literacy instruction. KRRC will include a team of experts that will develop and disseminate evidence based practices for literacy instruction. KCRR will focus on disseminating research and conducting program evaluation. The KRRC looks to achieve meaningful impact on three critical focal points: early literacy, family literacy, and teacher training. This role will report to the Executive Director. The role will ensure the completion of deliverables, development of website, written communication, program activities, managing marketing and communications, developing and overseeing a website, serving as a key liaison to key stakeholders and organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with experts in literacy and areas related to effective literacy instruction.

Develop content with KRRC team to help all entities with teaching/support literacy-based instruction and best practices, using What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) standards. This may include, but is not limited to, producing video modules and developing micro-credentialing courses.

Providing clear communication of evidence-based outcomes and action items to achieve growth for early literacy, family literacy, and teacher training.

Build networking and collaborative relations with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE), and state legislators. This may include, but is not limited to, working with regional directors, interacting with Literacy Specialists, and train educational cooperative personnel.

Collaborate with P-12 literacy personnel, including, but not limited to, identified coaches in every county in Kentucky and individuals from the National Center on Family Literacy.

Oversee a technical specialist in the development of a website.

Develop a strategic communication and dissemination plan for the KCRR.

Connect with KDE and state-wide literacy efforts regarding the distribution of resources, development of training topics, and determine proper support mechanisms.

Write draft policy recommendations for the executive director to present to the Kentucky Board of Education.

Co-lead the coordination all program activities.

Produce reports around the work of the center.

Create training materials, film and edit video modules, and receive feedback to edit materials in accordance with KRRC's goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field and five years of related experience preferred

Previous experience in managing grants, coordinating complex projects, multimedia technologies, and engaging with diverse stakeholders is highly valued as well as experience working with organizations and research involving literacy instruction.

Demonstrates a clear understanding of literacy instruction within the state and nation.

Target Compensation Maximum: $98,100

Target Compensation Minimum: $64,400

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
