The Director of the Office of Environmental Justice will provide strategic leadership, serve as principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Health, and collaborate with key policy leaders to protect the health of people throughout the U.S.

in the face of pollution and other environmental hazards, especially those experiencing a higher share of exposures and impacts.

Other duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Leading the advancement and integration of environmental justice in the development, evaluation, and implementation of HHS policies, programs, and partnerships.

Overseeing day-to-day operations that include establishing and directing programs, and developing and supporting the implementation of policy solutions that decrease disproportionate environmental hazards and health risks for vulnerable populations.

Serving as international and federal subject matter expert on environmental justice and on actions to reduce disparate impacts of pollution and other environmental hazards that affect health.

Providing supervisory oversight to direct reporting administrative and support staff.
