The Impact You'll Make

As the Assistant Controller, you will play a critical role in managing the accounting operations of Recursion, including overseeing the monthly and quarterly close, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and international accounting.

You will act as a SOX liaison between all of our control owners and our external and internal auditors. You will have ownership over our internal policies and procedures and will manage our third-party partner relationship, ensuring our controls framework and design is appropriate and oversee the high-caliber execution on that framework by our Company. In this role, you will:
Oversee month-end and quarter-end closes for multiple entities, review journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
Lead Recursion's Sarbanes-Oxley 404b compliance processes, policies and procedures. Direct and oversee the controls design and testing from our external team, while maintaining a superb vendor relationship. Responsible for policies and the quality execution of our SOX 404b framework across all functions of our organization
Manage and oversee and/or support management and oversight of operational areas of accounting, such as accounts payable, close and reporting
Lead the international and statutory accounting in foreign countries
Oversight, mentorship, and development of a team of accountants
Grow to become a strategic business partner for the management teams to help them understand and plan critical elements of financial decisions and their impact
Assist with quarterly review and annual audit processes by our external auditors
Interface with the finance leadership team, external public accountants and attorneys as well as internal legal, tax and other departments
Assist with cross-functional projects on an ad-hoc basis (e.g. Financial Planning and Analysis forecasting or finance-related software implementations.)
Develop and implement improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting deliverables
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller or senior management. This may include process improvements, system implementations, or other strategic initiatives

This is a hybrid role that works in-person at our Salt Lake City corporate headquarters and works from home certain days each week (50/50).

The Team You'll Join

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will be an essential member of the Business Operations and Finance teams. The Business Operations and Finance teams are fun, tightly knit groups that work together across a wide range of functions and responsibilities.You will be joining a tight-knit cross-functional team with expertise in procurement, finance, accounting and information technology. We work closely with leaders in these disciplines to deliver on complex external and internal reporting requirements. We are challenged by adapting systems to an ever-changing business..

The Experience You'll Need

Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting and 8+ years of experience either at a Big Four public accounting firm or a combination of public accounting and public multinational company experience
Active CPA certification preferred
Deep knowledge of the U.S. GAAP, SOX 404b compliance and SEC reporting regulations
Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office, ERP applications (general ledger software, consolidation software, etc) and financial reporting tools (such as Workiva)
Must be flexible, organized and able to accurately work under time constraints and deadlines
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, build relationships and to influence effectively in ambiguous situations.

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
Developing: $146,500
Skilled: $163,000
Expert: $179,500
