Job Description

Augsburg University is seeking candidates for an Instructor of Nursing, 9-month non-tenure track position beginning August 2024. Candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity as well as success in teaching and serving students from diverse communities are especially encouraged to apply.

A successful candidate will teach nursing courses in the various nursing programs at Augsburg University which includes the BSN completion, MA in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice - Transcultural/Leadership track.

Teaching requirements include facilitation of undergraduate and graduate nursing courses with adult students in asynchronous, hybrid, and/or face-to-face modalities. Candidates who demonstrate competence in developing hybrid and online learning pedagogies will be given priority. A service component would involve nursing department committee work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing prior to assuming the position.
  • Licensed and unencumbered registered nurse in the State of Minnesota or eligible for RN licensure in Minnesota.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing experience in community or public health practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to holistic health, transcultural nursing, and/or social justice
  • Academic preparation and teaching experience at a university in nursing education
  • Teaching experience in asynchronous, hybrid, and/or face-to-face modalities
  • Experience in leadership within nursing practice
  • Five years of experience in the nursing profession

Priority will be given to a candidate demonstrating interest and strength in teaching with an emphasis on transcultural nursing, leadership, holistic health, equity and inclusivity and social justice issues in the discipline.
