Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce architecture designs and solutions for building and operating cost-efficient, scalable, and secure cloud-based software solutions, enabling and supporting application teams to deliver business outcomes quickly.
  • Produce architecture design that enables distributed data systems and event-based architecture as first-order priorities.
  • Contributes to the architectural design of new innovative solutions principles, concepts, and best practices for the vision keeping the cost, security, and observability principles into consideration.
  • Provides architecture design and solutions for managing cloud security, including enforcement of security policies, ability to visualize and manage security compliance and risk, ability to classify and protect cloud data, ability from managing cloud-based identity and access, leveraging cloud-native technology.
  • Provide toolset and CI/CD process to aid in developer productivity.
  • Designs with operational excellence in mind. Looks for ways to automate tasks and reduce operational toil. Work closely with DevOps team to bring the desired excellence to the service.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and experience with concepts and technologies used in software development, cloud data management, security, serverless, microservices, containers, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Serves as lead cloud infrastructure solution architect, working in cross-functional teams dealing with challenging architecture and engineering problems and opportunities.
  • Comfort working remotely and performing well given a high level of independence and autonomy.
  • Educate and advise users on how to adopt the functionality of platform products within their strategy and processes to achieve desired objectives.
  • Translate application team needs into technical solutions and product requirements.
  • Provides thought leadership to ensure that systems and services are designed and operating to achieve optimal levels of performance, reliability, and operability.
  • Mentors team members on secure coding best practices and skill development.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of related work experience working in high-performance or distributed systems, with direct work experience across a variety of Cloud Infrastructure disciplines on a global scale.
  • Expert experience working with various AWS Cloud Infrastructure, glue, EMR, Step Functions, Cloud Formation, open search, etc.
  • Skilled with API usage, command line interface, and SDKs for automating cloud operations
  • Proficiency in software development in at least one of these languages - Java, Go, or Python.
  • Proficient in working with large-scale data management systems.
  • Ability to implement tracing, metrics, logging, monitoring requirements, and design.
  • Experience with observability products (such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.)
  • Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and DNS with Linux system administration
  • Deep familiarity with serverless microservices architectures has seen them in operation at a global scale.
  • Possess a strong understanding of security principles
  • Able to knowledgeably discuss performance, security, and user interactions in complex systems
  • Built and operated a large-scale Cloud service.
  • Preferable to have Cloud certifications in AWS Certified Solutions Architect

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in computer science or related technical field with 10+ years of experience.
