Job Summary

This MIIC Operations Student Worker position provides support to the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) Operations Unit of the Vaccine Preventable Disease Section of the Minnesota Department of Health. This position will assist the unit with processing inquiries from the public about their MIIC immunizations records and data entry projects. This position may also assist the unit with data management, survey development and administration, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, program evaluation, quality improvement activities, or development of educational materials for a broad audience, in addition to supporting the general functions of the section.

These positions are hybrid in nature, which will require occasional work to be completed in the St. Paul office. Reimbursement for authorized business travel expenses is provided according to bargaining unit guidelines.

These positions are part-time and will work up to 20 hours per week. The specific hours and days of work are flexible within 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. These positions are anticipated to last through August 30, 2026, or until the selected candidate completes their educational program, whichever occurs first.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications must be clearly demonstrated on the applicant's resume/application to be considered for these positions:
  • Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education
Student Worker Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional Senior you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.

  • Current or incoming graduate student
  • Demonstrated interest in disease prevention (e.g. public health, immunization, health care, maternal and child health, health promotion)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Data entry and data management experience
  • Qualitative or quantitative data analysis experience
  • Ability to use computer databases in order to perform data entry and summary reports
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience
    • REDCap experience
    • Statistical analysis software experience (R)
  • Survey experience (development, planning, implementation, and/or analysis)
  • Evaluation experience (methods, planning, developing, and implementation)
Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting of less than 25 pounds.
