Job Description:
The Director of Athletics and Racquets at Old Town Club is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and managing non-golf sports programs, including fitness, swim team activities, special events, camps, and clinics to cater to various skill levels and interests. This role oversees league teams for men, women, and mixed groups, ensuring a competitive environment for league play. The Director plans and manages numerous clinics, special events, and camps, providing ample opportunities for social and
competitive play for members, their dependents, and guests.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise all racquet sports activities, ensuring proper fee charging and court maximization.
  • Initiate, direct, and promote clinics, special events, and programs to maintain residents' interest in tennis, pickleball, and paddle tennis.
  • Design, implement and oversee athletic programs, classes, camps, and activities to meet the interests and needs of club members. This includes scheduling, coordinating events, and ensuring a diverse range of offerings.
  • Provide instruction from beginner to advanced levels for all ages, both privately and in groups.
  • Develop and implement lesson programs for adults and children.
  • Enforce club rules and regulations governing the use of facilities and equipment.
  • Prepare a monthly calendar of events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop combined programs.
  • Ensure daily inspection of courts and facilities, confirming necessary maintenance has been performed and courts are safe.
  • Report maintenance problems as needed.
  • Monitor court usage, including special events, clinics, and open play.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates.
  • Address complaints and resolve issues appropriately.
  • Manage department associates, ensuring effective orientation and ongoing training.
  • Monitor business volume forecasts and plan manpower, productivity, costs, and other resources accordingly.

Qualifications
  • Skillful instructor and player willing to play with members and guests of all skill levels.
  • Experience overseeing fitness programs, swim teams, racquets and other non-golf sports.
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance methods for various court surfaces.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team of professionals, including coaches, trainers, and support staff. Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Have practical marketing and business experience to maintain shop and promote tennis activities.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing a variety of athletic programs, clinics, jr. camps and special events.
  • Have prior experience as an assistant professional.
  • Proficient knowledge in pickleball and paddle tennis.
  • Hold a "Professional 1" or higher certification from US Professional Tennis
  • Association (USPTA).
  • College degree preferred.
