JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Home Care Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant is part of the Nurse Next Door team and works under the guidance of the Care Designer or a nurse to provide personal care services as per a care plan. They are responsible for observing, reporting, and documenting client care activities.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide client care as directed
  • Assist with personal care activities
  • Observe and document vital signs
  • Support skin care and mobility
  • Assist with medication administration
  • Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients
  • Participate in client teaching and follow care plans
  • Adhere to infection control principles and client rights
  • Handle emergency situations
  • Drive clients to appointments and activities
  • Participate in performance improvement activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Registered on the Idaho State Health Care Aide Registry
  • Minimum of one year of experience
  • Certified in CPR
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray
  • Licensed driver with insured automobile
  • Good communication skills and empathy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team

JOB LIMITATIONS:
The Certified Nursing Assistant will not perform tasks that are considered nursing practices. This includes administering medications, obtaining orders, or performing procedures requiring a licensed nurse's expertise.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Contact with clients in various settings including homes and hospitals. Possible exposure to infectious materials. Need for appropriate protective equipment and ability to handle physical demands.
