Summary
The Director of the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (PJHC) implements the strategic plan for entrepreneurship programming, leads the development and operation of all resources to assist in building an entrepreneurial mindset for students, faculty and alumni. The Director is responsible for generation of resources needed for successful programming and for outreach to outside stakeholders and Director reports to the Dean of the Schmidthorst College of Business.
The Director manages the day-to-day operations of the PJHC. The Director is responsible for budget administration, the development of a strategic plan with the PJHC Advisory Board and Dean, and programming activities including Entrepreneurship Week (E-Week), workshops, co-curricular activities and certificate programs, and other outreach to community stakeholders, alumni, and sponsors.
The Director must be highly organized and well versed in project management and will be responsible for successfully planning and overseeing all aspects of E-Week programming including the Opening Ceremony, Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship, Paul J. Hooker Center Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Women in Entrepreneurship panel, business pitch event like The Hatch, and student-oriented events such as Lunch and Learns.
The Director is responsible for engaging with the PJHC Advisory Board and implementing a communication plan for internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with the Dean.
Essential Functions
- Manage the Hatch, E-Week program, and the development and growth of the PJHC: This includes leading the PJHC; identifying and recruiting the SEBO series presenters; actively engaging with the PJHC advisory board in developing programming; developing and managing the PJHC Faculty Fellows program; developing and launching new PJHC programs and activities; and collaborating with other campus student services/institutes to integrate entrepreneurial thinking across campus.
- Community Outreach and Sponsorship: This includes working with the Dean, advancement, and budget officer to establish annual fundraising and sponsorship goals for the PJHC; recruiting, engaging and collaborating with over 15 distinguished judges and mentors each year; Expanding the regional and national recognition of the PJHC and BGSU's entrepreneurial ecosystem through conference and symposium awards and grants; identifying and collaborating with BGSU researchers, business leaders, alumni, and other stakeholders to further the mission of the PJHC.
- Staff Recruitment and Management: Recruit and manage the 10 faculty fellows from across the BGSU campus; the two part-time student employees each semester; the industry mentors individuals each year), the entrepreneurial student teams in the Hatch (approximately students per year).
- Dissemination of Entrepreneurial Mindset: Assist in the growth of the campus-wide Entrepreneurship minor and the development of a co-curricular Entrepreneurial mindset digital badge; provide direction and leadership in the design and deployment of the entrepreneurial projects including events, social media, and regional organizational support; Work collaboratively with directors, faculty, and staff from across various units at BGSU (e.g. Student Success, Advancement, Residence Life, Life Design, Admissions), to develop and implement the Hatch program, PJHC activities, and other related entrepreneurship initiatives on and off campus; provide direction and leadership for the development of various programs and modules that support the engagement and growth of students and faculty entrepreneurs (includes training and collaborating with faculty through workshops, class visits, meetings, etc); work with faculty across BGSU to integrate entrepreneurial thinking and activities in their curriculum; represent the PJHC at national level events related to student entrepreneurial activities (e.g. VentureWell, USASBE, Deshpande Symposium, etc).
- Support Student Entrepreneurs: Develop and track student team ventures, assist students with preparation of pre-launch materials including business model canvas, pitch presentations, idea plans; support teams in managing their project plans and funding needs; support students in gaining access to various resources on and off campus for start-up, seed funding, and incubation needs.
- Budget: Manage and grow the PJHC budget; manage any student seed funds allocated to teams (approximately 10 per year)
- Education and Competitions: Develop and present a co-curricular workshop series; develop and support a 3-hour and 6-hour entrepreneurial mindset experiential based modules to integration by faculty in the Life Design or other curriculum; Oversee the PJHC Hack-a-thon entrepreneurial challenges (1-2 per semester); Oversee the Hatch competition and all related activities.

Minimum Qualifications

- 3 years as an entrepreneur/intrapreneur experience (e.g. starting and operating a business as a sole proprietor, partnership or LLC)
- 2 years of management and supervisory responsibility
- 1 year of event planning
