Position Description:
The Director of Fundraising & Event Management for the Missoula Catholic
Schools Foundation (MCSF) is responsible for the oversight of all development and fundraising efforts
encompassing individual giving, corporate support, major gifts, and planned giving, as well as all event
management, including both annual events and other special initiatives. The Director will also assist the
MCSF President in forming strategies and tactics to grow major financial campaigns such as the annual
fund, alumni outreach, and the permanent endowment. The Director will also be generally responsible
for all Foundation marketing efforts and the cultivation of grant funding opportunities.
The Director of Fundraising & Event Management reports directly to the MCSF President.

Professional Responsibilities:

Development & Fundraising:

  • Plan, develop, and execute strategies for obtaining donations as guided by the President.
  • Manage overall donor communications, cultivating existing and new relationships.
  • Develop and execute a corporate giving program, as well as cultivating planned giving.
  • Establish and build relationships with alumni locally and nationally; foster outreach through
print and email publications, and relevant events.

  • Foundation marketing, including design creation of necessary materials; facilitate effective
communication strategies and support.

  • Assist the President with community outreach and attend events on behalf of MCSF.
  • Liaison between a marketing firm and MCSF; assist in managing relevant social media.
  • Support management and enhancement of the MCS website, as related to the Foundation.
  • Content writing and the creation of relevant Foundation and alumni publications.
  • Research and coordinate grant writing; identify new grant revenue sources.

Event Management:

  • Responsible for the oversight of all Foundation fundraisers and associated events.
  • Oversees and executes major fundraising events, including the annual auction and gala (Building
A Scholastic Heritage - BASH) and Jogathon.

Personnel Duties:

  • Works with the President to establish a process for the effective hiring, supervision, and
evaluation of relevant MCSF staff.

  • Oversees all volunteers in accordance with relevant Foundation and diocesan policies.
  • Assist President with the oversight of the Foundation thift store, Bargain Corner.
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the President.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A commitment to Catholic education.
  • Three years of relevant experience with fundraising programs, successfully soliciting funding,
and event management-related work.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications/public relations, or a
related field preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with the non-profit sector grant writing is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a small staff.
  • Self-directed with proven ability to assume responsibility and work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks/assignments/projects within established timeframes,
including the ability to stay focused and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Established marketing skills, including content writing, print, and electronic media.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills; basic graphic design knowledge a plus.
