Position Overview

Ecology Project International is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to fill the role of Alumni Coordinator. As part of the EPI team, the Alumni Coordinator will play a pivotal role in nurturing and empowering our Alumni community, fostering a sense of connection, cultivating future EPI supporters, and facilitating learning and leadership opportunities for former participants. Key Responsibilities

Alumni Engagement and Leadership Development:

  • Upkeep, develop, and implement strategies to engage EPI visiting alumni after their EPI course.
  • Cultivate a strong sense of community among alumni by facilitating networking opportunities and fostering peer-to-peer connections.
  • Organize and coordinate an annual in-person visiting Alumni Reunion program, providing opportunities for alumni to reconnect with each other and with EPI staff and partners.
  • Oversee all aspects of alumni-related event planning.
  • Coordinate and lead EPI's Alumni Leadership Award system.
  • ­Design and coordinate leadership development programs and initiatives tailored to the needs and interests of EPI alumni.
  • Provide mentorship and support to alumni as they pursue personal and professional growth opportunities in the field of conservation and environmental leadership.
  • Collaborate with EPI’s Board of Directors Community Engagement Committee to develop an Alumni Advisory Committee and act as staff representative for the Committee.

Program Enhancement:

  • Collaborate with program and Admissions staff to integrate alumni perspectives and experiences into current EPI programs.
  • Identify opportunities to involve alumni in program delivery, including mentorship roles, and volunteer opportunities.

Partnership Building & Fundraising:

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations and professionals to create opportunities for alumni engagement and leadership development.
  • Identify, pursue, and report on alumni-related fundraising opportunities.
  • Capture stories and impact from student projects to create engaging proposals for future funders and partners.
  • Meet with alumni virtually and in-person to develop and cultivate donor relationships.

Data Management and Evaluation:

  • Maintain accurate records of alumni engagement activities and outcomes, utilizing database systems and evaluation tools to track progress and measure impact.
  • Drive EPI’s global Alumni Survey efforts.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of alumni engagement strategies and adjust approaches as needed to achieve desired outcomes.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental studies, education, nonprofit management) or 2-3 years of previous experience working in alumni relations, community engagement, or youth leadership development.
  • Strong writing skills with a knack for producing creative, compelling stories.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental conservation and youth empowerment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to thrive working both independently and across multiple departments.

Preferred:

  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Experience with database management systems preferred.
  • Fundraising and/or grant writing experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • EPI Alum.

Schedule and Location
The Alumni Coordinator is a full-time position that is based in EPI’s Missoula, MT office. Schedule and hours to be worked are during core office hours (weekdays from 9 AM - 5 PM), with occasional nights and weekends for event hosting. The Alumni Coordinator will also be on-call occasionally outside the normal working hours when staffing the 24-hour emergency response cell phone.

 

Benefits and Compensation

This position is compensated at a base salary of $41,334 at 1.0 FTE. In addition, this position is eligible for a benefits package that includes paid time off, sick leave, holidays, health and dental insurance, and other benefits as detailed in EPI’s Employee Handbook.
