The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) at NDSU is seeking candidates for a GIS Specialist position.

The primary objectives of this position are to:
Provide roadway engineering expertise in research, education, and other outreach activities; Participation in knowledge-building for local paved and unpaved roadway management in road safety and mobility strategies, data collection, decision support/analysis, and traffic modeling; Identify knowledge gaps and share innovative practices and data-driven decision tools in capacity building for local and tribal transportation agencies; Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicate ideas, opinions and solutions related to current and future project activities.

Advertised Salary: $85,000 +/DOE

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering Experience and knowledge of local paved and unpaved road planning, design, maintenance, bridges, and associated deterioration Knowledge of tribal transportation and land use Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and in teamsWorking knowledge of life cycle costing
Preferred Qualifications:
Road Network Safety Screening and/or Safety Countermeasure Assessment Experience with Crash Modification Factor Applications for Low Volume Roads GIS Experience Master's degree in civil engineering or related field Licensed Professional Engineer Experience with local road managers and stakeholders Coding experience with programs such as Python, SAS, R, or SPSS. 2+ years of job experience
