Portland, Oregon, United States Found Full time

If you're interested in supporting self-employed people then we want to hear from you Please submit your interest via our job board here.
About Found

The self-employed workforce is a rapidly growing, resilient, and colorful 60 million Americans. But self-employment comes with its own set of challenges: navigating taxes, accounting, bookkeeping, and business banking are just a few. That's where we come in.

Found is building tools that give self-employed people the security and peace of mind that has historically only been possible at big corporations. We're a business bank account that automates taxes and expense tracking, because we believe small business owners should spend more time doing what they love and less time on their business finances.

We're looking for kind, resourceful, and passionate people to join us in building the safety net for self-employment.

About this role

Hi, I'm Aabhas and I'm the CTO here at Found. Thanks for your interest. Our team is responsible for taking products from ideation to being used by tens of thousands of users every week. We're a small but experienced team that has worked on complex problems such as money movement and taxes at Square, tax withholding and on-demand delivery and ride sharing at Uber, and building large scale support solutions at Microsoft. Our team values moving fast while moving safely, investing in engineering excellence, and sharing learnings early and often.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is excited to drive the technical vision for one of our key product pillars, with room to own a multi team scope. You'll partner with me and our other leads to scale our engineering team and support the growth of our engineers. I personally review every application, so if you have any questions please include them in your application.

Recently our team has:

Grown 5x in the last 18 months (24 engineers as of writing this)
Launched an entirely new (faster and improved) feature gating and experimentation system
Scaled (successfully) our request volume by 100% Month over Month for the last 12 months

Day to day, you will:
Drive the technical vision for your team; to inform what we build and how we build it.
Hire, mentor, and grow the engineers on your team, from setting them up for success during onboarding to challenging them to grow throughout their career with the company.
Build processes to help the team scale and improve existing practices that aren't scaling with our growth.
Promote an engaged, positive, and product focused, engineering culture.
Collaborate cross functionally with product, design, and finance to build our development roadmap, headcount goals, and more.

To thrive in this role, you have:
2+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
6+ years of experience building production software systems.
History of leading cross-functional projects and prioritizing work based on business impact.

You may also have:
Previous startup experience and/or experience in hyper growth environments.
Experience with bookkeeping or taxes and how it relates to self employment.
Experience with banking or payment infrastructure.
Experience growing managers and tech leads, being responsible for multi team scope.
Fluency in full stack web development using some of the tools we use (e.g. React, Rails, MySQL, Cordova, Kubernetes, Spanner).

About You
Found is built by a team that comes from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, and we firmly believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial to our success. As we grow, we're searching for passionate and motivated team members who are excited to bring their skill set to the team and are ready to learn from others.

If you are looking for a role where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution and great impact, we would love to hear from you
