Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Activities, the Program Manager for Student Engagement & Activities (Counseling Services Coordinator(E S 6)) directly oversees the day-to-day supervision and advising of student leaders and teams and related events and programs. Student Engagement & Activities holds student-driven programs and social justice as paramount values, and the Program Manager will provide advising support to a variety of student organizations and student leaders, will supervise part-time staff as needed, and will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive series of trainings and leadership development activities to support student leader and group development. The program manager will facilitate program development through oversight of the resources and staff members associated with student affairs, and through the strengthening of divisional and institutional partnerships across campus.

This position requires that the Program Manager interact with staff members from various student affairs units and other UW Bothell departments. The Program Manager will need to balance the need to share information with and advocate for students while meeting department and division goals and expectations.

The Program Manager for Student Engagement & Activities will directly impact the quality of educational experiences and opportunities available to all University of Washington Bothell students. The Program Manager will assess student programs, make use of current research and best practices, and, in conjunction with their supervisor, create a financially viable, institutionally focused program that highlights student engagement, development and success for all students

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Activities (SEA), the SEA Program Manager (PM) is a full-time professional staff position that manages programs designed to foster student learning, development, enhance community building, and promote student retention. The PM collaborates with the larger SEA team, plans, implements, and assesses campus wide programming, and advises student organizations and clubs in planning, implementing, and assessing programs.

The SEA Program Manager should be a high energy, positive role model who is committed to student affairs, leadership education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, residential, commuters & transfer students). The position involves high student contact, and evening and weekend hours are frequent.

Programming Management & Development
Support, implement, and administer co-curricular programs, plans, policies, and services such as student leadership programming, commuter programs, late night and weekend activities, and SEA traditions.
Assists partner departments on implementing and managing larger campus events including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and Commencement.
Support department and division student events and programs as needed.
Coordinate programs and activities logistics which include preparation of contracts, purchasing, room reservations, registration processes, and other related documents as necessary. Coordinate with other departments as appropriate.
Develop and manage program and department budgets. This may include purchasing, budget reconciliation, and fiscal oversight of one or more budgets.

Student Supervision/Advising
Supervise one or more of the following student organizations: Campus Events Board, Student Media groups, or components of ASUWB student government.
Provides advice and assistance to student clubs in organizational analysis, team building, strategic program planning, leadership, time management, and problem resolution.
Advise student staff on budgeting, program design, and implementation of programs, events, and initiatives. Train student staff and club officers of applicable Federal, State, University and Student Affairs policies, procedures and rules regarding operations and expenditures of funds, as well, as the intent and rationale behind regulations.
Plans student staff hiring procedure, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Reviews SEA student organization program proposal and expenditure requests; determines security, health and safety, insurance, and permit requirements for facilities usage; submits food requests and necessary requisitions.
Coordinates, and monitors aspects of co-curricular programs; evaluates content, format, and objectives; delivers group and individual instructional training, as appropriate.

Operations
Provides support to the Director of SEA in developing, assessing, and revising learning outcomes for student staff, programs, and department.
Create and implement an assessment plan for student organization(s).
Designs, develops, and oversees implementation of relevant marketing strategies and initiatives directed at students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and/or the general public; edits and coordinates production and distribution of a range of promotional publications, including social media and campus calendar.
Provides support to campus users in regard to SEA's student engagement platform.
Assist the Assistant Director in managing usage and operations of student spaces such as the Involvement and Leadership Office.

Other duties as needed
Serve as a liaison between Student Engagement & Activities and university service/program constituencies in all areas related to Student Engagement & Activities programs.
Serve and participate on University events and committees as assigned or designated.
Live on position and will support in Residential Life professional staff duty rotation.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in student development, College Student Personnel, Education, Counseling or related field and at least 2 year of experience in higher education in a student facing role.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Professional experience within a college or university setting in the areas of student affairs or student activities.
Must demonstrate skills in advising and working collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff and faculty.
Possess the ability to work collaboratively and have knowledge of student development theory practices.
Experience coordinating, executing, and evaluating effective student events and programs in a college setting.
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and administrative skills.
Must be excited to work in a diverse, dynamic, challenging environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3-4 years of experience in higher education in a student facing role.
Experience working directly with student social justice and diversity programs, registered student organizations and clubs, programs, campus programming board, student government, or student media and publications advising.
Experience in budget development and management.
Demonstrated knowledge in applying a social justice and equity theoretical framework to program design, implementation, and evaluation.
A transparent, collaborative working style, characterized by listening and consensus.
Understanding of assessment practices in higher education.
Experience living on campus and providing emergency response to residential programs.
