POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to perform on-site and remote field audits to ensure taxpayer compliance with Maryland state laws and regulations, covering a range of business tax types and fees administered by the Comptroller of Maryland.\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.\r
Experience: One year of experience performing financial and compliance audits of a State agency, grantee, business or other entity.\r

Applicants who had met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement.\r
Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university�for one year of the required experience. \r
Applicants may substitute one year of professional accounting experience for the required experience. \r
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Internal Review classifications or Auditing specialty codes in the Financial or Auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at�\r

Experience performing financial compliance audits of business entities;\r
Familiarity with Maryland tax laws, rules, and regulations;�\r
Familiarity with generally accepted auditing standards;�\r
Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles; and\r
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.\r

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.\r
Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
