Early Childhood Educator 2 - Home Visiting Program
Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for current and future full-time Early Childhood Educator 2's for the Child and Family Research Center's Home Visiting Program. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. Early Childhood Educator Home Visitors must implement a research-based, home-based curriculum that delivers developmentally, linguistically, and culturally appropriate home visits and group socialization activities that support children's cognitive, social, and emotional growth for later success in school. This position will collaborate with early childhood special education (NEIS/EI), nutritionists, mental health consultants, health providers (medical, vision, dental), case managers, and other professionals as needed. Early Childhood Educator Home Visitors work with families to provide experiences that support their child's development and learning, engage in back-and-forth supportive interactions, and use the home as the learning environment. This position may perform other duties as assigned including enrollments, community outreach, training, family engagement activities and parenting classes.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER
ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information: Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Required Qualifications
This position requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in education, early childhood education, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience teaching children in a child care, pre-school, or group setting to include implementation of curricular activities and environmental design, supporting developmental assessments, establishing relationships with families, and ensuring the health, wellness, and safety of children; OR
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of experience as described above; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Early Childhood Educator I in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Pursuant to NRS , this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid Class "C" Nevada driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Current CPR & First Aid training
FBI background check and fingerprinting every 5 years
TB test every 2 years
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
