Deputy Registrar I

An Overview

A Deputy Registrar I , in the Office of Voter Registration and Elections has the responsibility for providing basic administrative and operational support for voter registration and election processes. E mployee s in this position will assist in preparing and processing mail ballots, processing in-person early voting and other administrative tasks as required . T asks are performed under the general supervision of a Deputy Registrar II and/or the Elections Manager.

The Opportunity

Provides information and instruction to voters concerning early voting procedures and by-mail voting .
Assists citizens with the in-person early vot ing process .
E nsures c ompl iance with the law by monitoring the voting equipment while the early voting precinct is open for voting.
Supports the daily reconcil ing of information while early voting is taking place; and is responsible for ballot security at all times.
Assists in the preparation of mail ballots for mailing, processes applications for ballots, processes returned ballots .
Participates in preparing and packing supplies for early voting satellite locations and election day .
Assists with curbside voters .
Performs related work as required .

The Office of Voter Registration & Elections is dedicated to the non-partisan administration of all federal, state, and local elections within the City of Alexandria, while upholding the office's standards of Integrity, Neutrality, Transparency and Accuracy.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

One year of clerical or administrative experience in a position involving public contact and completion of high-school-level courses in arithmetic and English; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be a registered voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

Flexibility to work nights , weekends and at satellite locations as needed.

K nowledge of Virginia voter registration and election laws and procedures

Hiring Time Frame: September 16th Through November 12th
Hours: 7:30 am-5:30 pm, four days a week
