Overview
DLH Corp seeks a full-time Research Assistant to work in the Division of Laboratory Sciences at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) located in Atlanta, Georgia. The CDC, a key operational arm of the Department of Health and Human Services, is dedicated to safeguarding America from health, safety, and security threats, both domestic and international. Whether the origins of diseases are local or global, chronic or acute, preventable or curable, accidental or deliberate, CDC is at the forefront of disease control, supporting communities and individuals in their efforts to combat health challenges.
The Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS), which is located on CDC's Chamblee campus, provides crucial laboratory support to enhance the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of environmental, tobacco-related, nutritional, newborn, chronic, and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities
- The candidate will assist in ensuring the preparedness of the laboratories to respond to chemical or radiological agent incidents or exercises.
- Provide consultation in the interpretation of regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Support management in promotion and assessment of compliance to regulations, guidelines, and CDC policies.
- Audit study records for regulatory compliance, and personnel records for training and competency documentation
- Create project plans, milestone and summary reports for Branch activities
- Create audit inspection reports
- Direct corrective action reports for testing failures and customer complaints
Qualifications
- BS degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with a minimum of 30 semester hours coursework in chemistry plus at least four years of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- MS degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with at least two years of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Experience performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement, and/or utilization review activities for a human services program or agency is preferred
- Knowledge of biological sample handling/processing, instrument operation, maintenance, and data analysis
- Strong communication skills, experience in preparing oral and written presentations and reports
- Detail-oriented approach to all aspects of the work
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance
