Minimum Qualifications:
  • Driver's license. (Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.)
  • Ornamental & Turf Pest Control Commercial Applicator Permit (OTPC) OR Ornamental & Turf Pest Control Supervisor License (OTPS).
  • Experience in leading employee groups (e.g., providing guidance).
  • Experience in horticulture maintenance practices (e.g., pruning, weeding, fertilizing, identifying plants).
Typical Job Duties:
  • Oversee team productivity, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Manage inventory to meet operational needs.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Respond to workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Supervise and train staff.
  • Utilize databases for data analysis.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Distribute work assignments based on departmental needs.
  • Assist in horticultural tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Inspect work areas and ensure materials are available.
Critical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of horticulture and landscaping practices.
  • Proper use of chemicals and pesticides.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases and pests.
  • Understanding of plant care and planting techniques.
Work Environment:
Work occurs in indoor facilities and outdoor locations such as parks. Use of gardening tools and chemicals is involved.

Physical Demands:
Moderate physical exertion required, involving lifting, stooping, kneeling. Exposure to various weather conditions and hazardous chemicals may be present.
