Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and providing direction for the mill's workflow and scheduling functions of a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing facility. This position is also responsible for managing production personnel and executing production for multiple departments. Overseeing the shipping department would also be expected. Anyone that enjoys leading people in a team-oriented, manufacturing work environment, would be a good fit for the Manufacturing Supervisor role in our Animal Nutrition plant. The Production Supervisor's focus would be on coordinating production efficiency, taking the forefront in safety and quality, and promoting employee engagement and compliance with regulatory needs.

SAFETY is our core value. Continuous improvement is always our goal. So, you must be energized by bettering our culture through project improvements and daily work. This is a collaborative environment. You will work with other team members to resolve production issues and employee relations and concerns. It will be expected of you to lead pre-shift meetings as well as safety trainings at the mill.

Operational Hours Expected:

Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:30 pm; occasional Saturdays, 6:00 am - 12 pm.

Please note: discussions on moving to 10 hour days is occurring. This would follow a 6AM - 4:30PM schedule and you would be expected to cover 4 of the 5 days in a workweek.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 months leadership background OR High School degree with 4+ years of leadership experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Strong demonstrated computer skills.
  • Ability to coordinate, provide direction, influence, and coach staff.
  • Ability to work with management to reach and maintain production schedules and goals.
  • Communicator, decision maker, quality orientation, technical/professional knowledge, customer focus, time management, and oriented toward process improvement.

Job Description:

  • Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within his/her area. Sets a leading example by supporting and adhering to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Responsible to ensure all tasks are performed using proper SOPs/GMPs, safety procedures, and other regulations.
  • Ensures pre-operation inspections are performed before starting the shift.
  • Ensures inventory is accurate and properly maintained by following SOPs and NBi. Will learn St. Albans' batching system: WEM, and its function at the mill.
  • Maintains accurate records of information, such as daily receipts, inspection results, etc.
  • Must be able to direct others in keeping with production schedules and goals.
  • Monitors and updates Workday time keeping as needed as well as approving time punches each week.
  • Daily paperwork review.
  • Coach, train, direct, and discipline employees.
  • Partners with multiple departments to execute department orders and ensure goals are met.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent teamwork skills and an ability to build positive relationships that promote teamwork and a positive working environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Strong computer skills that includes Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt and utilize other programs.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Strong understanding in food safety and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure without supervision.
  • Willingness to help the production team by filling in on the line when short-handed.
  • Willingness to run production on Saturdays when needed.
  • Bachelors degree preferred in management, business, or related field.
