Our regional field team is looking for you As the face of Wish of a Lifetime, our team is responsible for managing a regional network of volunteers, sourcing wishes from local stakeholders, and expanding the delivery of services with a focus on intergenerational programming. Wish of a Lifetime is a part of the AARP family and focuses on granting wishes to senior citizens throughout the United States.

Wish of a Lifetime seeks to change society's view of aging by providing enrichment opportunities for older adults and telling their amazing stories to inspire people of all ages. If you want to learn from a great team of professionals, apply now for this incredible opportunity Interns are integral to Wish of a Lifetime's National Field program. As an intern, you will apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help recruit and train a sustainable network of volunteers, ensure a steady flow of wish submissions through creative and network-driven sourcing efforts, and support the field team in expanding the delivery of services with a focus on intergenerational programming. We'll challenge you to think and work in new ways. We are committed to your growth and will cultivate your continued learning and development. This paid internship starts in the Summer of 2024 with the possibility of extending for additional semesters.

Responsibilities

Support volunteer recruitment and training efforts Organize volunteers to help support programming goals Create presentations and communications collateral to engage local organizations Work with a multidisciplinary team to create strategic plans for future intergenerational programs Conduct local outreach to inform organizations and individuals about our mission and uncover wishes for deserving seniors in the community Collaborate with the Wish Operations Team to ensure successful vetting and execution of wishes within a geographic region
Qualifications

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers; this may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program Knowledge of the non-profit sector, either through coursework, volunteerism, or employment experience Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently and clearly communicate information verbally and in writing The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with information that will be obtained in daily interactions Proficiency in all MS Office programs with an emphasis on MS Word, Excel, and internet research tools

AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
