LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in Seattle, WA. The Data Entry/Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9pm-5:30am
Pay Range: $20.60- $ rd shift differential
Work Location: Seattle, WA
Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Dynacare Northwest, Inc. and United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 21. Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 24 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), accrue up to 18 days of Annual Leave per year (includes 8 holidays) and Sick Leave hours of sick leave for each hour of work).
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive clinical specimens from client and prioritize orders as needed.
- Accurately identify and verify patient information and testing ordered on each requisition received.
- Determine that appropriate orders and samples are present.
- Properly label, process and route specimens to testing departments or storage.
- Accession specimens into computerized database and meet productivity metrics set forth by the department.
- Push or pull cart throughout the lab, picking up samples to be expedited to appropriate testing benches.
- Assist with receiving shipments from other laboratories, unpacking boxes, expediting time sensitive specimens to appropriate departments.
- Resolve and document any problem specimens.
- Potentially assist in training of staff on entry level tasks if deemed competent.
- Always maintain a safe and clean work environment and conform to company safety guidelines and requirements.
- Conform to established and new procedures and policies instituted by the company.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- No relative experience required; 1-2 years preferred
- Previous medical or production experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills necessary to deal effectively with co-workers, clients, and hospital staff.
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- A willingness to work in fast paced, high-volume laboratory, with constant workflow from the beginning to the end of the shift.
- Experience working in a team environment
- Proficiency in typing, and the use of the 10-key preferred (MS Office).
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
- Rotate weekends when necessary
