Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Disassemble reusable medical equipment (RME) and determine the correct cleaning method.
  • Inspect, assemble and determine the correct method and packaging for sterilization.
  • Perform and document daily operational checks and records for all processes and equipment.
  • Understanding and following principles and procedures for processing of used/contaminated equipment.
  • Adhere to SPS VHA Directive 1116 regarding personal protective equipment to be worn when performing cleaning/decontamination duties.
  • Check for damaged or missing items and arranges for replacement, maintenance, or repair as needed.
  • Ensure that bio-burden testing is conducted on all endoscopes, both rigid and flexible after manual cleaning is completed.
  • Perform daily spore testing and sterilizer control measures as it relates to quality assurance principles of sterilization and elimination of cross contamination and determines whether item are free of microorganisms.
  • Monitor and interpret biological challenges processed for each sterilization cycle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Please Note: Travel may be necessary to cover work at different Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) when staffing is limited.

Work Schedule: Currently, only evening and night shift are being filled. Evening shift 3:30pm-12am and night shift 12am-08:30am
