Job Description

Supporting the Oracle Health Hosted (OHH) technologies and infrastructure that make up the Oracle Health Presentation Tier product. As part of the OHH Presentation team, you will be continually challenged and have an opportunity to support the overall health and automation of systems and platforms that give to patient care throughout the Millennium system, working closely with the IP development partners.

As a Sr Site Reliability Engineer , you will solve exciting technical challenges by defining, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting key OHH presentation products, platforms, and infrastructure. With a demeanor toward reliability, scalability, telemetry, security, and performance.

The ideal candidate for this engaging and visible technical leadership role would have the approach of a developer, the experience of a systems and infrastructure engineer, and the adaptability of a system architect. These qualities bundled up in an effective communicator are what we are seeking to make our product team and healthcare customers successful.

What You'll Do

Product Ownership –You will be part of the OHH presentation team, whose responsibility is the infrastructure ownership of a collection of various Windows OS, and MySQL products and/or technology areas, along with various Citrix products.

Ownership Scope – As an SRE, you will understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of the presentation tier products you own. In coordination with your development partners, you will have the responsibility to ensure that products and systems are designed and delivered to be available and incident free with a critical focus on security, reliability, scale, and performance. SREs are the ultimate authority and are accountable for the end-to-end performance, telemetry, and automation of the products they own.

Product Operations – As the Oracle Cloud evolves; you will partner with IP and development teams in shaping improvements in product architecture, both current and future. As an SRE, you will be an expert at articulating technical characteristics of your products and the dependencies between products.

Operations Engineering – You will understand and be able to communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance requirements and telemetry of the products you own. You are a Subject Matter Expert, able to understand and communicate every characteristic of your product stack, such as:

• Degradation and behavior under load of the products and their dependencies

• End-to-end tuning needs, optimizing resource utilization, as load patterns fluctuate

• Instrumentation and metrics that clearly describe the product behaviors

• Scaling requirements and patterns

• Resiliency and recoverability, ensuring that backup / restore and disaster recovery capabilities are implemented, tested, and maintained

• Security operations and vulnerability remediation, verifying vulnerabilities are patched or remediated while conforming to corporate and federal security standards and processes.

• Automation – You will have a clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles, and will be eager to automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, while simultaneously eliminating technical debt. Automation must be part of your DNA.

• Prevention - Once you have expertly resolved an issue, you will immediately work on how to resolve the problem next time more quickly, with the goal to eventually prevent the problem happening ever again.

• Technical Experts - As product SRE, you are the escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as SOPs for Level1 staff. You will usually be engaged during major incidents as a SME, when the source of a problem is unclear. You will have the deep understanding of product topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.

• Broad Interests - SREs are a rare mix of sys admins and development engineers, and as such can understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on the ability to run as distributed systems. SREs are driven by professional curiosity and a desire to develop deep understanding of their products and the technologies they depend upon.

• Represent SRE - Proactive, self-motivated, customer-focused, organized, and a good communicator. SREs may be expected to represent OHH Presentation Product Operations in sensitive forums.
