Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Mental Health Specialist

$5,713 - $6,949 monthly (salary commensurate with training and experience)

Exempt, Non-Civil Service, Temporary, Full Time Appointment. This position, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant, "Maui County Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic – Planning, Development, and Implementation Grant", (MCCCBHC-PDI) is responsible for providing an array of mental health clinical services, including mental health assessments, eligibility determinations, diagnoses, and individual family, and group psychotherapy to individuals served by the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). Additional functions of this position include providing clinical oversight and consultation, within their scope of practice, to non-licensed staff.


Minimum Qualification's


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Must meet the requirements for one of the professions listed below):

1. Licensed Clinical Social Worker - a. Holds a master's degree from a college or university in a social work program accredited or deemed to be equivalent to an accredited program by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). b. Successfully complete at least 3000 hours of post-graduate supervised clinical social work experience in an agency setting. The 3000 hours of clinical social work experience must be completed in no fewer than two (2) years and in no more than five (5) years; and shall include at least 2000 hours of assessment, clinical diagnosis, and psychotherapy; no more than a maximum of 900 hours of client-centered advocacy, consultation, and evaluation; and at least 100 hours of direct face-to­face supervision under a licensed clinical social worker.

2. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - a. Holds a master's degree or doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution in marriage and family therapy or in an allied field related to the practice of mental health counseling which includes or is supplemented by graduate level course work comprising a minimum of thirty-three semester, or forty-four quarter hours in the following course areas: 1). Marriage and family studies; 2) Marriage and family therapy studies; 3) Human development; 4) Ethical and professional studies; 5) Research. b. Completes one year practicum with three hundred hours supervised client contact. c. Completes one thousand hours of direct marriage and family therapy, and two hundred hours clinical supervision under a licensed marriage and family therapist in not less than twenty-four months.

3. Licensed Mental Health Counselor - a. Holds a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution in counseling or in an allied field related to the practice of mental health counseling that includes or is supplemented by graduate level course work in counseling comprising a minimum of forty-eight semester hours or seventy-two quarter hours in the following course areas: 1) Human Growth and Development; 2) Social and Cultural Foundations; 3) Counseling Theories and Applications; 4) Group Theory and Practice; 5) Career and Lifestyle Development; 6) Appraisal of Human Behavior; 7) Tests and Measurements; 8) Research and Program Evaluation; 9) Professional Orientation and Ethics; b. Completion of at least 2 academic terms of supervised mental health practicum intern experience of at least 3 graduate semester hours or 5 graduate quarter hours per academic term in a mental health counseling setting with a minimum of 300 hours of supervised client contact. c. Completion of 3,000 hours of post-graduate experience in the practice of mental health counseling with 100 hours of face-to-face clinical supervision completed in no less than 2 years and in no more than 4 years.

4. One year of experience treating individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness is preferred.

LICENSE: A. Must possess a current State of Hawaii license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. B. Valid Type 3 Driver's License Preferred.
