Position Details:

Reporting to the Regional EHS Senior Manager you will implement environmental, health, and safety programs for distribution facilities, branches, and offices in specified territory. As the Area EHS Manager you will help educate all employees to ensure compliance with International, Federal, State, and Local regulations, laws, and policies. You will also provide consultation and guidance to Distribution Center, Branch managers and coordinators on all issues related environmental, health and safety. As the Area EHS Manager, you will be onsite Monday through Friday (7-4 / 8-5) at the Grainger Louisville, Kentucky Distribution Center however occasional nights or weekends are expected.

You Will:
  • Help implement EHS programs and strategies to reduce risk, including OSHA, ergonomics, injury / illness reduction, hazard communication, environmental, emergency preparedness, and general employee safety.
  • Manage tactical and strategic EH&S functions within your territory.
  • Help with the development and management of EH&S goals.
  • Provide EH&S leadership to all company locations in your territory.
  • Help develop and manage business projects with financial and legal impacts.
  • Manage complex EH&S improvement programs across Distribution Center and Branch units.
  • Brief distribution center and branch management on status of EH&S issues.
  • Serve on management level EH&S committees and working groups.
  • Keep Regional EHS Manager aware of all important business incidents and provide monthly reports on projects and incidents.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a field specific to safety or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in distribution, or manufacturing organization.
  • Technical skills related to safety matters.
  • Experience managing safety related databases and software.
  • Working knowledge of ISO, OHSAS, and other EH&S management systems.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence strategy concerning EHS matters.
  • Skills in relationship development and enhancing EHS engagement.
  • Professional certification preferred (CSP, CIH or equivalent).
