POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides academic, career, and financial aid advising on Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs. This position will conduct the recruitment and selection process for pre-apprentices, report on grant outcomes, and provide retention activities, including: development of individual pre-apprenticeship success plans, progress monitoring, campus visitations, orientations, and program events. The individual in this position can also expect to be responsible for recruiting and working with employers interested in hosting interns and work-based learning opportunities, as well as supporting high school pre-apprenticeship programs and assisting with apprenticeship committee recruitments and outreach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

Program Development

  • Assists in the development of objectives and goals for Pre-Apprenticeship Program admissions, registration, financial aid, job placement, and/or other related student service areas
  • Develops and maintains systems to administer programs and evaluate effectiveness
  • Conducts research and analysis of programs
  • Reports on grant outcomes
  • Develops program documentation and conducts training to communicate new and/or updated policies and procedures
  • Assists with Pre-Apprenticeship Program budget development and monitoring

Student Progress & Success

  • Meets with each student quarterly or as needed to monitor progress, problem solve and makes appropriate referrals
  • Serves as a liaison and advocate for students and submits documentation to outside partners for industry certificate
  • Maintains appropriate case notes and documentation in program database of contact with each participant and gathers necessary information for reporting requirements.
  • Arranges employer opportunities and arranges/provides for transportation.
  • Collaborates with College Access Programs staff, Career coaches and other college departments to create a supportive atmosphere.
  • Develops and coordinates presentations regarding program services, qualifications, and requirements.
  • Coordinates completion events and assists with access to grant funds for clothing and equipment for students based on the trade.
  • Provides academic, career, transfer, financial aid and personal advising to students in Pre-Apprenticeship Program regarding: classes, financial aid, admissions, registration, apprenticeships programs, student success resources; community resources and services, and strategies for success
  • Develops initial Pre-Apprenticeship Plan with each student addressing both long-term and short-term academic goals and assists students with planning to accomplish goals; modifies plan with student as needed.

Program Support

  • Designs and uses marketing materials for participant and employer recruitment.
  • Recruits employers for work-based learning sites
  • Designs program activities, including annual calendar
  • Participates in annual planning process and evaluation of program services
  • Authorizes placement and removal of holds on student accounts
  • Supports the APR 101, Trade Skills Fundamentals instructors and outside training, including OSHA 10 and CPR certification

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

-AND-

Two years of progressively responsible related experience

-OR-

Associate's Degree

-AND-

Five years of progressively responsible related experience

-OR-

Any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience advising low-income and/or first-generation students at the community college level
  • Experience with Career and Technical Education, Pre-Apprenticeship or Apprenticeship
  • Experience developing and marketing CTE programs for target populations
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment of the C1 band and grade
  • This position has a 6-month probationary period
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS

Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
