Job PurposeThe Hazardous Waste Management Specialist will oversee the proper management of hazardous waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all laws governing hazardous waste generation, storage, transportation, and disposal. Maintain detailed record-keeping and procedural development which are critical to meet regulatory requirements and maintain operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with safety rules, procedures, and company Code of Conduct.
• Manage hazardous waste in accordance with RCRA regulations.
• Complete hazardous waste manifests and ensure accurate documentation.
• Coordinate hazardous waste pickups and maintain communication with environmental coordinators.
• Conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and maintain compliance records.
• Coordinate non-hazardous waste shipments to landfill and ensure compliance with landfill requirements.
• Operate wastewater treatment plant as directed by plant operator.
• Maintain knowledge of plant personnel and waste generating processes.
• Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in hazardous waste management required.
Knowledge of RCRA regulations and hazardous waste handling procedures required.
Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions and guidelines.
- Forklift certification or ability to pass certification test.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities.
- Dedication to safety leadership and adherence to safety protocols.
- Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability to climb stairs, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in varied environmental conditions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II license.
Physical Demands:
The role requires physical capabilities including standing or walking for long periods, ability to operate a forklift, and work in hot/cold environments.
Work Environment:
