Java Software Engineer

BCMC is seeking a Software Engineer with Java development experience to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities to include, but not limited to Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence.

BCMC supports a U.S.

Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the SME for Atlassian tools (Jia, Jira Align, Confluence, etc.).
  • Provide recommendations and deploy sustainable architecture throughout multiple environments
  • Provide daytoday operational support activities as well as strategic planning initiatives with Atlassian tools
  • Collaborate within Agile Scrum team as a key contributor responsible for converting proprietary vendor code for integration with multiple advanced cybersecurityoriented capabilities.
  • Create interfaces and interaction layers using industry best practices, latest web trends/technologies and associated tools
  • Work with customers, testers, and administrators to develop, test, and deploy software builds
  • Develop high quality technical documentation, as needed, including user guides, test plans, and contract deliverable items

Required Skills:

- U.S. Citizenship

 Active DoD Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability 6+ years of software development experience required. 4+ years of handson experience with Java development and related technologies 2+ years of experience with Agile software development Experienced in the development lifecycle of supporting and customizing Atlassian tools (Jira, Jira Align, Confluence) to meet the needs & demands of enterprise stakeholders Solid understanding and handson experience with Windows and Linux operating systems Solid understanding and working experience with cloud technologies, i.e. AWS, Azure Possesses or quickly develops a comprehensive understanding of Government Information Security policies, regulations, and guidelines Must be able to work collaboratively across agencies and physical locations
Desired Skills:

  • Technical understanding of account management and user authentication solutions
  • Experience with JavaScript, XML and SQL
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Continuous Development / Continuous Integration concepts, and tools
  • Experience with integrations utilizing cuttingedge and cloud technologies
  • Experience working with HSPD1
  • DHS experience

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR Computer Systems Engineering.

Eight (8) years of experience (for a total of fourteen (14) or more years) may be substituted for a degree.

A Master's degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience

  • Professional experience may be substituted for a degree. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Desired Certifications:

  • DoD IAT Level II
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Windows/Linux Admin, Cloud SIEM, CISSP, Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Certifications related to Agile development and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Practitioner (SP) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
